Advocacy - How to be heard

At Scarlett's Autism Therapy Centre, we understand that advocating for your child can feel overwhelming, but your voice matters. Here are some gentle ways you can ensure your child’s needs are heard and supported:

1. Know Your Rights Take the time to understand the services available to you, like the NDIS, to help ensure your child gets the support they need. You're entitled to these resources, and we’re here to help guide you.

2. Learn and Grow Together We encourage you to keep learning about autism and the therapies that can help. The more you know, the stronger your advocacy becomes—and we're here to support you along the way.

3. Build Your Support Network You don’t have to do this alone. Whether it’s other parents, professionals, or our team, a supportive community makes advocating for your child feel less daunting.

4. Communicate with Compassion When talking to therapists, educators, or service providers, we recommend being clear and compassionate. Share your child’s needs and always feel free to ask questions. We’re here to help you navigate those conversations.

5. Work Together Advocacy is about partnership. By building strong relationships with the professionals who work with your child, you can find the best solutions together.

6. Be Patient and Persistent We know the road can be long. Keep advocating for your child, and don’t lose heart. Every step forward is progress, and we’re right beside you on this journey.

7. Celebrate Every Step

Celebrate the wins, no matter how small. Each success, big or small, is a step closer to your child thriving.

At Scarlett's, we're here to walk alongside you. If you ever need support, resources, or just someone to talk to, we’re always here for you. Together, we can ensure your child gets the care and support they deserve.

We'd love to hear from you
